Thousands of Hindus Wear Yajnopavita under the Guidance of Brahmeshanand Swamiji
Kundaim: The Shravani festival is a symbol of knowledge, as knowledge is considered supreme in Sanatana Dharma. Shravani is a ritual in Sanatana Dharma that inspires the guru-disciple tradition and emphasizes the importance of knowledge. At a time when there was no formal education system in the world, India had a tradition of guru-disciple knowledge transfer. To preserve the tradition of the Rishis, it is necessary to understand the Shravani ritual. When people outside Goa ask whether there are Hindus in Goa, we tell them to visit the Goa Spiritual Festival and Shravani to witness how religious the people of Goa are and how well they have preserved their temples. Whether it is the field of religion, politics, or any other, success can be achieved only when everyone works while upholding justice and morality. These remarks were made by Sadguru Brahmeshanandacharya Swamiji, Peethadhishwar of Shree Datta Padmanabh Peeth, Adhyatma Shiromani, and Padma Shri awardee.
The Silver Jubilee year special Shravani festival of Gurupeetharohan under the divine guidance of Padma Shri Sadguru Brahmeshanandacharya Swamiji was celebrated with great enthusiasm on August 30 at the Shree Kshetra Tapobhumi Gurupeeth. Pujya Swamiji was addressing the gathering.
Further, Pujya Swamiji said that the agricultural and Rishi traditions have been continuing since Sanatana Dharma’s inception. Particularly in Goa, great personalities of the guru-disciple tradition—Sadguru Sushenacharya, Sadguru Sadanandacharya, and Sadguru Brahmanandacharya Swamiji—have bestowed this Shravani tradition. Parents need to impart cultural values to their children. Whether they belong to different castes, whoever is a follower of Sanatana, a Hindu, protector of cows, respectful towards women, and brings pride to the nation, is dear to the Lord. The Shravani ritual is a clarion call for the protection of Sanatana Dharma. Thus Pujya Swamiji delivered his spiritual discourse.
The event was graced by the presence of Union Minister of State Shripad Naik, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldesai, Public Transport Minister Digambar Kamat, MLAs Vijai Sardesai and Krishna Salkar, along with various other dignitaries from different fields.
Various religious rituals were performed during the program, including the wearing of Yajnopavita (sacred thread), Utsarjana, Upakarma, Sadguru Pujan, Rishi Pujan, Tarpana, Havan, Mrittika Snan (mud bath), Mindvate Hom, Yama Prarthana, Gopujan, Sabha Deepadan, Rakshabandhan, and Sadguru Pujan.
Under the divine guidance of Pujya Swamiji, thousands of devotees in Goa wore the Yajnopavita, displaying a grand sight of Hindu unity and cultural splendor. The program concluded with Aarti and Mahaprasad.
Resolve to Take Goa’s True Identity to the World: Minister Rohan Khaunte
Whenever “Goa” was mentioned, the imagery of sun, sand, and sea always came to mind. However, Goa’s identity is not limited to its beaches alone. A resolve is now being taken to bring Goa’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage to the global stage. Efforts are underway to promote spiritual tourism and present Goa’s temple tradition and Sanatana heritage to the world through tourism. Under the guidance of Sadguru Brahmeshanand Swami, the work of advancing 11 pilgrimage centers under the “Ekadash Tirtha” initiative has begun. Bringing things rooted in our core to the world is the need of the hour.
